Pros

Decent hours, 4 days of 10 hours
Some of the people are good to work with
Ability to be flexible with your schedule

Cons

No room for growth
Incompetent Management
Treated very poorly by management
Management gets stressed out at employees about management bonuses.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

First of there is way too much management. Management should focus more on customer service rather then scamming DirectTV and their customers to inflate their bonuses.

    work ethic and employees are good but not great. management is there but no help

    Cons

    micro-management, constant bombardment of work. upper management exists but don't.

    to learn how to listen, learn and teach. everyone is a student first and teacher later.

    I have been working at DirectSat USA full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    -Company provides vehicle and gas card (but you have to find parking near your home).
    -You get 1 or 2 days off a week (but you don't get to pick them, nor are they necessarily consecutive).
    -There's usually always a lot of work (because technicians are always getting fired for some reason or another).

    Cons

    -Piece rate pay = level 1 techs paying for level 4 techs.
    -Scorecard including 20 near impossible matrics set forth by DirecTV that have little to do with technician job. -Quarterly pay rate swings of between 20 and 50 percent between levels.
    -Health benefits cost 3 times industry standard (due to extremely risky nature of work).
    -Wholly inadequate training and field support for technicians.
    -Parent company UniteK Global Services is going through chapter 11 bankruptcy.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Upper management needs to:
    -Dump the "if you don't like our way of doing things, find another bleeping job" attitude.
    -Hire enough supervisors to allow technicians to perform work safely.
    -Up-train under-performers instead of firing them for union sympathizing.
    -Staff enough technicians to get work done in-house instead of shirking off work onto 1099 labor.
    -Hire authentic "new" people and actually train them up, instead of relying on revolving door subcontractors.
