Pros

Discovery is a powerhouse name to get on your resume. Good benefits, good work/life balance program.

Cons

Management is very slow at promoting from within. Many people have to leave the company and come back to get promoted.

Advice to Management

Promote your own talent!

    Pros

Working for an internationally recognized brand, working on fun and interesting brands/projects, great office design with lots of individual privacy, fun company events, some great people. Good name recognition after you've left.

    Cons

The company was great before it went public a few years ago. Since then the fun has drained out of it. There have been lots of lay offs with many of the greatest people leaving or later quitting out of principle. Some toxic new additions to the top have brought in their own also toxic underlings and contributed to changing what was once a great working atmosphere. Some departments are better than others, some are worse. Once you are in, it's hard to be promoted and only tiny raises are given year by year. Managers focus mainly on managing up, most likely out of fear for their own jobs.

    Advice to Management

Get over yourself. Care about the people you have.
