I have been working at Discovery Communications full-time

    Pros

Great benefits (annual bonus, health insurance, paid vacation, 401K). Discovery keeps employees up to date on state of the company, corporate updates, etc

    Cons

Salaries are not so great for lower level employees. It is also very hard to be promoted. It seems like they prefer to hire from outside than promote from within.

I worked at Discovery Communications full-time

    Pros

Large company means good benefits for parents/couples/families. With so many different departments, there are a lot of good people and bosses to work for and with, it's just a matter of finding the right fit.

    Cons

Constant change and reorganizations. Constant struggle to balance creative content with needs of advertisers. Very slow/conservative with technological change. There doesn't seem to be much of a culture or pride outside of a few pockets here and there.
