I have been working at Discovery Communications full-time (more than an year)

Pros

Great work ethics. People have been there forever so it's like a big family. Nice people. Excellent benefits and pay. Beautiful offices. Great HR department.

Cons

Very resistant to change. Extremely territorial. People work on silos. No synergies among departments. It's a company that does not believe/invest in digital. Old fashion way of thinking when it comes to original production. Limited growth opportunities. Could be frustrating if you come from an organization that values reinvention and change.

I have been working at Discovery Communications full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Everyone is so intelligent and engaged. We worked hard and played hard. Work-life balance was fairly good, and there were many opportunities to learn and grow.

    Cons

Upper Management needs to consider the needs of the rank-and file. Layoffs would happen without warning and upper management didn't really consider the needs of those they jettisoned.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat your employees with a bit more respect.
