Disney Parks & Resorts – “A Fun Job, A Dreadful Place To Work”

Pros

Making guests happy is actually very fun. I go to work and make people smile for a living. It can be very rewarding.

Cons

The company can be very shallow. Managers are rarely evaluated on their effectiveness. With little to distinguish between different cast members, far too many decisions boil down to variations on favoritism. The relentless culture of positivity actually hurts the company, since nobody is capable of making a hard decision. The company needs some true leaders in the management ranks, as opposed to politicians. I'm not sure that is reasonable to expect in an organization so ridiculously large, but this company has a place in the hearts of so many of us that I can't really explain.

Advice to Senior Management

You need to be willing to fire people who are incompetent, not just clear out broad swaths of folks based on their job titles.
