I have been working at Disney Parks & Resorts part-time for less than a year

    Pros

The discounts offered to a cast member include 50-75% off merchandise, dining, and resort stays. I would never have been able to stay in the top disney hotels without the CM discounts. Also, getting up to three family members or friends in for free, plus yourself, amounts to a considerable savings--and those visits are the equivalent of park hoppers. It was like having a "golden ticket" to the chocolate factory...

    Cons

The company is very big and so very complicated. There are a lot of things that you have to know and do in order to maintain your "status" and continue to take advantage of the benefits. This is not the company for someone who likes things simple. You have to live and breath all things Disney to keep up with it all. You really have no life outside of Disney...if you do, you will find yourself falling behind and eventually out...

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Disney has a reputation for its connection to its employees. Management needs to realize you cannot trade on that reputation; you actually have to deliver. Passing out candy is great for morale and easy; but letting a worker fall behind without bringing it to their attention takes more work. I would like to see management take more of Walt's tradition to heart and actually do the work rather than just paying it lip service.

I have been working at Disney Parks & Resorts as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

    - free access to the parks: enough said.
    - networking opportunities: you really got to get the word out there to meet people but it can happen.
    - guest service experience: you'll get to meet with all kinds of people from around the world... and their problems.

    Cons

    - crazy schedules: you get scheduled whatever shifts no one else wants, mostly closing and turnaround shifts
    - no say in work location: you don't really get to choose your role, but it isn't so much the luck of what your role is, it is more about where you get placed that makes the most difference. In other words even if housekeeping sounds icky, it could actually be awesome depending on what resort you get
    - not all leaders are created equal.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - please take college program participants more seriously, in other words more say in schedules and more responsibilities
