I worked at Disney Parks & Resorts as an intern (less than an year)

Pros

Working in such a positive atmosphere makes it such a wonderful place to work. Even though you do have to deal with grumpy guests sometimes, the overall atmosphere is a pleasant one to work in.

Cons

If you work at some of the parks (except Animal Kingdom), but ESPECIALLY Magic Kingdom at Disney World, shifts can run vary late. Working until 1 or 2am happens. Also, you have to be good with people when they complain or disregard the directions of the cast members. You may not like your job if you are not a patient person or get frustrated easily.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Everyone makes mistakes. It is very appreciative to not quickly punish employees when they are learning.

I worked at Disney Parks & Resorts as an intern (more than an year)

    Pros

Parks! Cast events. Professional development (classes, networking, mentors, and meeting other interns)

    Cons

Don't really care what happens to you after the internship. Some areas do, others just watch you go.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Spend more time with your intern. They want to be there. They fought really hard and are passionate people.

I have been working at Disney Parks & Resorts

    Pros

    Excellent benefits
    Nice perks
    -Park admission
    -Food&Beverage discounts
    -Merchandise discounts
    Great teams
Lots of different places to work

    Cons

Difficult process for growth and career development
Poor leadership is just moved around or turfed rather than performance counseled or let go. Lots of focus on length of time with the company rather than the actual contribution or skill set. Preach work life balance but don't actually foster it an the Guest facing level.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Performance manage all levels of leadership. Think outside of the box with development. Find a way to educate all levels of Cast on opportunities. Teach your entry level leaders conflict resolution with Cast and how to use the guidelines set forth by contracts as a tool for development as well as accountability.
