Disney – “Fun Place to work but not to make money”
Pros
It is a great, fun place to work. Interacting with guests and fellow cast members is fantastic. A lot of team work with the cast members to make the magic. Seeing a guest who enters Disney property is magical. You also have unlimited enterance to the park which a great park for those times which you need a quick lift me up. They offer room discounts and tickets for the members of your family. There is also discounts on purchasing Disney merchandise. Training is great especially for customer service. Once you learn Disney customer service there is no other way to do it only the Disney way. Overall, it is the best place to work.
Cons
The downside is that there is no room for growth. Even if you have a degree you don't get promotion. It's who you know not what you know. I've been on 10 interviews inside and always get excuses why I didn't get the position and none of them make sense because I am overqualified for the jobs applied for. The salary is just above minimum wage when starting at the bottom. Working full-time means they can put whatever schedule and you really do not have a say in getting time off. Managers really don't have people skills and don't communicate with cast members.
Advice to Senior Management
Don't interview people when you already know that you are going with someone else -- it is a waste of time both for you and the person you called in. Be honest when giving feedback. Also, watching people to evaluate if they are doing their job is ridiculous when you're paying a little above minimum wage. I wish I could stand behind you to evaluate if you are doing your job with a clipboard.
