Disney – “Great company to work for if money is not an issue.

Disney Catering & Convention Services Manager in Orlando, FL:   (Past Employee - 2009)

Pros

Disney has a long standing history of providing excellent customer service and providing "magical moments" for their guests. Having experience working at Disney is a great resume builder. The health care benefits are excellent and affordable for additional members of your family. There are many other "perks" that are in addition to your salary, for example, park entrance, discounts and great holiday parties.

Cons

If you are an hourly cast member and have low seniority with the company, you have the last pick of the shifts which can mean late hours and not having weekends off. The pay rate at Disney is substantially below comparable jobs in the industry outside of Florida. When trying to advance, many times it is about who you know, not your performance. In my personal experience, I found that upper management already knew who they were going to give a promotion to before the opportunity was even announced. Also, sucking up to the boss would help get you ahead.

Advice to Senior Management

I think that positions should be truly given by performance and who is best qualified for the job.
