I have been working at Diversified Information Technologies

Pros

3 weeks time off to start and you basically can do whatever you like as long as you complete projects on time. You can work from home and / or make up your own hours as long as you put in your 40 a week and complete assignments on time. Everyone within the company is friendly, even upper management.

Cons

Pay is terrible. Nobody has had a raise in over 3 years. Company has been making changes and there have been a lot of layoffs.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay better and start some sort of employee discount program.

    Pros

Close to town and buses, if you didn't drive.

Alway hiring - which is also a bad indicator.

1-week paid maternity leave for the father of a baby that was just born -- somethign that is not normally found elsewhere.

Gain vacation time in advance, something like 90 hrs 1st yr --- Even if you start in October, you will have vacation/personal time to use as of January 1st, howeve if you leave before your anniversery date, you may have to pay the company back for any time that you did not gain as of your last day of employment.

Management and supervisors get this luxury party that they hire buses and such to take people there so you are not driving and have a upscale party (unlike what the rest of the workers get)

The company has several GMC Envoys that they use in the winter to go out in snow storms to pick you up for work and take you home in if there is a bad snowstorm.

    Cons

Very Low Payscale, even for the Scranton area. Most jobs paid $7.50 to $8.50/hr.

Mailroom paid just about minimum wage.

Lack of advancement - You could try to possibly advance yourself within you own department sometimes, but trying to get a better paying position or a better position in another area was justt about impossible.

    Terrible dental benefits.

    Always hiring -- big turnover.

Much of it's business if based upon contracts with insurance companies. If they loose a contract, you job, department or entire section can be shut down.

Manditory overtime at the last minute around the holidays, forcing you to rework your schedule/home life. This is something that you were not informed about during your interview.

Stupid system that when you have a doctors appointment or have to leave even 1/2-hour early, that you have to take your vacation time to make up the 40 hours for the week. You cannot have less than a 40-hr check. if you no longer have vacation time, they will not grant your request, even for a doctor's appointment.

You can get written up for using you personal/vacation time.

You acrue vacation time but based on days worked not hours, so if you work overtime, you do not accrue extra times for that.

Vacation must be taken in 8-hr blocks, so you can get disapproved for taking a full week if you only have 35 hours left of time.

No matter how hard you work, you are only reviewed as being an average worker.

Only people that have been their the full 365 days can get the holiday bonus. No partial bonuses, even if you were there, say 11 months and basically helped the company attain their goals -- you are not eligible. Basically your bonus, in a sense, get's divided between those there a full 12 months.

Crappy x-mas party --- Management and supervisors get this luxury party that they hire buses and such to take people there so you are not driving and have a upscale party.
The rest of the workers that do the grunt work of the operations get a party that they have to take during their lunch 1/2-hr on the day that it is given. If you take mroe than a 1/2 hour for your lunch to eat at the gathering that day, you have to make up the time at the end of the day, and if you take more than an hour, you will get written up for affectting the production of the department.

Management and supervisors get great holiday bonuses, unlike the lousy $100 that the rest of the workers get, if they qualify to get it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Listen to your employees.
What's the purpose of annual company opnion survey's if you do nothing about the results and don't publish the results of the survey for 6 months.
