I have been working at Dixon Hughes Goodman full-time

Pros

Excellent clients and a variety of opportunities. The Firm seems to be improving its attention to detail, communication with staff, and more structured processes. Great IT deparment.

Cons

The recent Dixon Hughes and Goodman merger has slowed the Firm maturation process (or so it seems).

Advice to Management

More communication from Firm Leadership to staff.

I worked at Dixon Hughes Goodman full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Nice office, lots of food stuffs and goodies, great holiday parties, and great smaller clients. The firm has started taking on lots of "larger" clients, which allows employees to experience a wide range of clients.

    Cons

Senior Management does a terrible job at communicating with each other. They seem to be aware, and just do not care, or at least do not emphasize correcting this.

    Advice to Management

Start asking associates to rate their partners. Senior management seems to only care about billable hours, and client revenue, and nothing else. There are many many many other important things to consider when running an accounting firm.

I have been working at Dixon Hughes Goodman full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

DHG management strives to find and keep talented accounting staff. Benefits are decent. Medical, dental, vision, CPE and 4 weeks of vacation to start. This is a great company to work for if you're just coming out of college with an Accounting degree and want to work for a large accounting firm as they have offices in 13 states and cover a number of areas of expertise. Telecommuting is an option for some staff.

    Cons

Salary is lower than industry average for IT-related jobs. Management does not reward hard work and extra effort with bonuses or increased compensation in my personal experience. Strong top-down management hierarchy.

    Advice to Management

Reward hard work with increased salary and increase telecommuting to reduce costs and increase employee satisfaction. Provide more alternative health care and team building options (e.g., onsite massage, chiropractic, health coaching, daily exercise, team games, etc.) to increase employee health and satisfaction.
