Pros

It's been around forever, and will probably be around for a long time.

Cons

Not much excitement. Feels like every decision must be signed off by some secret process involving the Dolby family. The are many other companies to further your career.

Advice to Management

I would review the current Executive Management and product strategy. Enlisting an executive search firm would be a great start.

    - Easy going people - 9/80 schedule - every other Friday is a day off - Reasonable compensation

    Cons

    - Too consensus oriented, no one challenges status quo - Lack of processes - Management is incompetent and inconsistent - goes 180 degrees on processes, strategies, deadlines - Recent SAP implementation was mismanages and let to a complete mess

    Pros

    The vision is consistently grand -- revolutionize entertainment technology again and again. Very smart people in nearly all functions and levels.

    Cons

    The mission is so broad it is difficult to focus. Acquisitions and size (1200+) make it more difficult to stand out as an individual.

    Advice to Management

    Assign dedicated engineering resources on market segments so that individuals develop a personal alignment with customers in their respective markets.
