I worked at Dollar Bank full-time (more than an year)

Pros

Small bank were you can get to know everyone who works within the company. Relatively stress free, easy job. Gives great insight into the industry and how banks operate.

Cons

Low pay. Minimal raises. Limited opportunities for advancement from within. Beginning to focus more and more on sales. They say that sales pressure is not emphasized, but sales is emphasized more and more, just not compensated. High turnover rate results in employees that are less and less qualified and competent.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Increase in salaries would yield better employees who stay with the company longer. Do not tell new hires that there is no sales pressure and then bait and switch once they are hired. Fair pay for fair upfront work would lead to happier employees.

    Pros

    Great hours if you do not work in the branches. Benefits are good. Having 10 bank holidays off a year is fantastic BUT they consider that part of your "vacation" time. They have never laid anyone off so job security is definitely solid!

    Cons

    Pay is below industry averages. Opportunities for advancement are not plentiful. It is a very old-fashioned (read: not progressive) environment.

    Pros

    Working at Dollar Bank isn't terrible. It's a fairly easy job, and coworkers are friendly. When you have a question about a procedure or policy there are numerous people in support departments that can be called upon, unlike bigger banks that have everything on an intranet page. Also, the benefits are great for a small company.

    Cons

    Senior management has changed, and moving in a more sales oriented envirioment without any incentive for meeting sales goals. Also, branch employees are tightly micromanaged by upper-management and security. Much of the decision making has been removed from branch employees, who now have to call someone in upper-management or security to get "approval" to do a simple task. Pay is also not competitive with other banks.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Loosen the reigns a little, and trust your employees. Micromanaging employees only hurts morale and productivity.
