    Former Employee - Store Manager
    Former Employee - Store Manager

I worked at Dollar General full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Staff, Staff. Staff, Customers, Customers

    Cons

Dollar General runs on a tight budget which means all "Store Managers" are going to be a manager that has to do everything. There is no manament in their stores you are on call 24/7 and only get paid 40 hours per week most of the district managers have never worked for the company and try to direct you in the way corporate wants you to go. Lack of communication is a big problem.. What I like the most is that they try to be good in the community, however badger the customer for donations for back to school supplies, feed the homeless, red cross etc. When the CEO and a few others in October cashed out millon in stock options what does that tell you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get a real clue on your operations Rick, you have no idea how hard your store employees work for you to make you able to cash in your millons. I am still suprised you all get away with paying a store manager for only 40 hours and have them work in excess of 70+. I guess the lawayers that are partners for this company no what to do.
