I have been working at Dollar General part-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

Worked very well with my schedule
Coworkers were great
Good as a starting out job for the experience

Cons

Bad upper management
Not enough store coverage. Managers are in the store alone for 4-6 hours

Advice to ManagementAdvice

If a store needs more hours and the store is suffering because of it, just give them more hours! Cashiers also get 0 control of the cash register and is very inconvenient.

I have been working at Dollar General full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

The company offers a good variety of products to consumers and has room for advancement for employees.

    Cons

Heavy work load with insufficient time to complete tasks.
    Wage compensation could be better.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Reduce double work. (take one ad down to hang next ad that offers same price breaks) (moving seasonal/discontinued items several times to make room for new product when seasonal/discontinues items should have been reduced in price to move them out the door.)

Create policies that make it easier for management to hold employees accountable. A goal for productivity is not the same as a policy. A policy does not leave room for plausible excuses.
