I worked at Dollar Tree

Pros

Customers, new merchandise each week.

Cons

It all depends on the district and DM you are working for.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Spend more time in stores before making corporate decisions. All stores are different. Listen to the managers.

I have been working at Dollar Tree part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Mostly friendly coworkers; get to meet many people every day; lots of new and seasonal items.

    Cons

Hours = crap, even at Christmas
    Pay = minimum wage
Call out/no call, no show = no penalties
    Employee discount = none
Managers = Don't care about you. Expect you to do 8 hours of work in a 3 hour shift, all while ringing up customers.
No advancement opportunities unless you kiss up to all the managers and have completely open availability. Corporate will do everything to screw you. Even with open availability you'll only get 10 (max) hours per week, so no one is getting hours, then corporate turns around and tells managers to hire 5 more people, which means even less hours for current employees.
OPEN 365 days. OPEN ON XMAS, THANKSGIVING, EASTER and NEW YEARS.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Care about your employees. Keep up on new training for employees. There needs to be something in place for no call, no shows and excessive call outs.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Neutral Outlook
    No opinion of CEO
