Pros

If you can blend in with the furniture, you have a promising career at mediocrity.

Cons

Personnel are not treated equally. It's acceptable to throw a stapler across a room and injure someone; no disciplinary action. But expect to get sent home and fired over the phone if you're the victim of continuous harassment from another employee. And don't expect to be able to talk to HR or have a say in the matter.

Advice to Management

Quit treating everyone like they're disposable. Provide training for upcoming projects, realistic deadlines and implement a change control policy.

    Pros

Had a great boss but she would have been fired if they knew how good she was

    Cons

Pay is low. Each year the benefits get reduced a little more. Each year the employees get reduced a little more. Each year the sales staff has to do the support staffs work a little more.

    Advice to Management

Without support staff you are going to fail. You can't keep putting more and more on the support staff that is left without giving them more.

    Pros

The management team knows there is room for improvement and is making positive strides to create change. The culture is very entrepreneurial. The people and offices are great. Lots of room for advancement.

    Cons

Some policies are just plain dumb. There are a lot of people there that don't get the new direction and need to get flushed out. The company is still transitioning from print and the cultural and business changes that are needed are not yet complete.

    Advice to Management

Continue the positive steps you've made but really analyze the policies you have, particularly towards employees, and ask if they are a good fit for the kind of business you want to build. Does management really *believe* that the team is what needs to be the first priority? If so then there are probably a number of policies that are keeping you from hiring and retaining the best people. Look closely at those and Dominion will probably take another step forward.
