I have been working at Donaldson Company full-time for more than 5 years

Pros

Donaldson invests in training people WHEN a employee pursues it. It is very easy to move up and around the company if you are in the Donaldson family. Its not easy to be recogonized, but once you are they sky is limit. Great pay, benefits, etc.

Cons

Unqualified management. A MBA buys you a office weather your worth the papers its written on. The ethics of company has become cut throat in the last 4 years. People are know viewed as "debt" rather than assets for growth.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Find the place between "The good ole boy club" you once were and the "Unethical treatment of employees" to raise NOP .25%. You will have higher profits if you have happy loyal employees.

I have been working at Donaldson Company full-time for more than a year

    Pros

There is great opportunity to move around and progress with your career. People are contstantly moving around. You have great support, and the people are great. It is a huge company with locations all over the US. You will find a location for yourself if you want to move. If you want to get anywhere in the company working in MN is the best place for you. You will have opportunity to move all over into different areas of the business.

    Cons

There are too many large scale projects going on and people tend to be stretched thin. There needs to be more cross training to help with support or different areas. There needs to be more support for the locations reporting to corporate. The IT support is not always available since they are stretched so thin with several projects ongoing.

I worked at Donaldson Company full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Solid, stable cash rich company with established OEM accounts.Has world wide name recognition with a global network in place. Very conservative leadership focused on slow and steady growth.

    Cons

2 billion dollar + company with a 1960's management mind set. Company has a serious disconnect between corporate and manufacturing plants evident by lack of support with engineering, logistics and IT. Top heavy with management at the mid to upper levels with micro management tendencies. Lacks conviction to evolve to true world class level perfering to rest on past laurels, relationships and mimicing other companies policies. Plant level supervision positions are high risk/low reward with little opportunity for advancement or recognition. Poor home/work quality of life balance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest in true cost reduction, lean process and supply chain strategies instead of implementing without support. Streamline new product development with complete cradle to grave support from engineering and marketing. Stop the talent exit migration by rewarding real time acheivements, not cookie cutter standards.
