Former Employee – worked at Dow Chemical full-time for more than 10 years

Pros – Being a very large company, there are opportunities in many different technological areas. Lateral transfers to new areas have been possible. Most of Dow's locations have relatively low cost of living (especially housing).

Cons – Most of the Dow sites are company towns. This has two consequences: 1. Pretty boring as the community is quite homogeneous. 2. There is little chance to find another job in the same community after you leave Dow.

Advice to Senior Management – Too much bureaucracy. Too much top down, without cultivating innovation from lower levels. Although processes are important in areas of safety, for instance, too many procedures stifle innovation and waste talent.
