I worked at DreamWorks Animation full-time for more than 5 years

Pros

very stable and compensation is good. relaxed environment and relatively good production schedules

Cons

innovation might not be always welcomed. promotion based not truly by skill sets or performance. need to be part of people's group and should be good at present your stuff loud enough. otherwise, better to stick with what you have.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

evaluation on performance should be the main key factor for people to be promoted to get better chances to work on something suit for advanced skillset.

I worked at DreamWorks Animation as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

The program was great, because it allowed interns to participate in all the events and classes that the company offered and to interact with all types of creative professionals. Without a doubt, it is definitely a company that cares for its employees and above all, values creativity. Internship experience will probably vary depending on your supervisor and position, but I lucked out with a great supervisor who took me along to all sorts of meeting and events. Also got to meet some higher-ups (who are generally very open to meeting with interns, if you are bold enough to ask) and attend some great workshops with top movie professionals in the field. In short: it's a great campus with great (free) food and lots of talented and friendly people.

    Cons

Unpaid internship (unless its a summer internship) and it requires long hours.
