Pros

Great environment for creative technical work, great people to work with. Work on interesting projects. Room to grow if you really apply yourself.

Cons

- Software requires a lot of hand-holding, and significant time can be spent ensuring compatibility between departments
- Limited number of R&D intern positions. R&D teams tend to be very insulated from younger talent and change.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

The software keeps things running. While animation brings home the bread in the short term, don't skimp on improving underlying technology along the way.

    Pros

    Stability, good work / personal life balance, lots of little perks (gym membership, free breakfast & lunch, free screenings, DVDs, etc.)

    Cons

    Low pay for production, political/favoritism, complacency, at mercy of a single supervisor for performance review, growth/promotion can be slow, lots of training on "managing up" but none for actually managing people

    Treat everyone who works for the company as if their contribution counts, not just the artists.
