No real engineering since it has all been done before.

    I worked at Dresser-Rand

    Pros

Lots of opportunity to learn. You get hands on experience in your field. Being around 20+ ton turbines is very cool. They pay a housing stipend. They respect their interns and give them meaningful jobs.

    Cons

It is in the middle of nowhere. The people that work there are very closed minded. The equipment is out dated. The building is falling apart. it rains A LOT. The area floods a lot. There is no fun place to go. the housing is terrible. The closest "city" is 45 minutes away (Olean) if you can call it a city.

I worked at Dresser-Rand as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

I was given a lot of responsibility and received very encouraging feed back. Everyone was willing to help and answer questions. Rather substantial hourly rate compared to many other internships.

    Cons

I would have appreciated the opportunity to meet successful women in the company to hear their challenges in such a male dominated industry. Other than that I couldn't have asked for a better experience.
