    I worked at Dril-Quip full-time

    Pros

I was paid significantly higher than other people in the same field at other companies (according to salary comparison sites).

    Cons

Management is terrible - full of yes men who promise you the world and deliver nothing in return. Not only do they do this to their employees, they do it to their customers too. It's a wonder they still get contracts. Benefits are terrible; you're given 28 days holiday but 5 of them are already dictated, so really you only get 23 and it's always a hassle if you want to take more than 5 days in a row. Maximum pension they'll put in is 4%. There is no flexibility when it comes to working hours; it's either you're in at 8am and finish at 4.30pm or you start at 8.30am and finish at 5pm. Heaven forbid if you're one minute late but if you turn up 20 minutes early (as I did on the regular due to train schedules) you get no thanks for it or overtime. Overtime is time and a third (???!!!) whilst those in the workshop get time and a half. You only get overtime if you work for a solid hour overtime and then it's in fifteen increments. But if you turn up 20 minutes early to work that's not included in the overtime if you were to 40 minutes later in the day. Staff morale is extremely low; pretty much everyone is severely depressed, stressed, rude, negative, poisonous and back stabbing. It's rare to find a genuine person there. There is no support if you want to better yourself with a continued professional development programme; in fact it's almost looked down on if you want to get a degree in your relevant field.

    Advice to Management

Be more supportive. Don't be yes men. Know when to say no - people will actually thank you for your honesty.
