Pros

Smart, intelligent, and hard working professionals, not in senior management, but Directors and below. Large company benefits but not much opportunity.

Cons

Senior management needs to decide how to construct a company that provides a balanced set of services to clients while advancing the smart and intelligent people.

Advice to Management

Management needs to provide a clear brand message in the market place. Most people don't know D&P or what it does very clearly.

    Pros

good place to start smart people around you

    Cons

loyalty comes only from the employee side - not two way lack of integrity and honesty performance appraisal and feedback are not two way processes working hours can be very long upper management too secretive too specialized Before joining ask and find out what happened in 2009 what you hear is not what you get Management has a take it or leave it mentality - no negotiation with employees brand awareness very low Management promises to employees things it cannot deliver

    Advice to Management

Try not to repeat 2009 and build loyalty.

    Pros

You determine how much responsibility you will take on. Great people to work with, managers are supportive and flexible schedule.

    Cons

Senior management has done a great of job of promoting a slacker culture at Duff & Phelps. Strong performers at an analyst/associate levels with 100% utilization (which means lots of weekends in the office and NO social life) get about $5,000 in bonus at year end, whereas slackers that do the absolute minimum and hit their 80% or sometimes 70% target get nothing (and have a GREAT work life balance). In summary, work hard and get $5,000 pretax or just cruise along and get $0. The choice is clear, don't work hard.

    Advice to Management

Duff & Phelps was a great company before it went public. Get your priorities straight, clients should come first, then employees, then shareholders.
