Pros

they way overpay because they are regulated and guaranteed a return

Cons

about 30% or more of the workforce are contractors, hired as such so they can easily be let go. This creates levels of confusion and a failure to hire and grow employees who care about the company. The general office is run just like the federal government, the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing, also doesn't care.

Advice to Management

no point, its all about the bottom line

    Pros

You typically get to work on a variety of projects of multiple disciplines.

    Cons

You can get put in some high stress situations and work long hours on depending on what is going on at that time

    Advice to Management

The senior management tends to keep employees in the dark as to far reaching plans. We found out about the Progress merger through news outlets.

    Pros

Duke Energy is a great place to learn and work as a co-op student. Ample opportunity to learn and advance in field of work/study is provided and many of the same benefits and opportunities available to regular full-time employees are also made available to co-op students.

    Cons

The inability of local management to offer or guarantee a co-op student a full-time job upon graduation can be frustrating.
