I worked at Duke Energy as an intern (Less than a year)

Pros

I was given a large amount of responsibility which aided fast personal growth. I was surrounded by bright minds; Duke places a lot of focus on engineering excellence and development.

Cons

The recent merger with Progress Energy was less than smooth, but the resulting company will be a valuable blend of best practices and strong leadership.

I have been working at Duke Energy full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Decent pay for the area, and able to get over time. If you are fine with doing the same thing for the rest of your career for 30 years since the nuclear industry is not changing.

    Cons

The management keeps you on edge constantly, and they are constantly adding administrative tasks that keep you from actually doing the work. While they are trying to figure out why we mess up with so much on our plate.

    Advice to Management

Hire more people and have separate departments for testing and clearance so the operators can focus on their jobs.
