I have been working at Duke Energy as an intern (less than an year)

Pros

Friendly coworkers
Good location
As work force gets older, more opportunities will arise in the near future
Very helpful for college students getting first taste of the real world

Cons

Nearly everyone has a lack of ambition
Overwhelming "maintain status quo" feeling
Accomplishments are hardly rewarding

    I worked at Duke Energy as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

    I was given a large amount of responsibility which aided fast personal growth. I was surrounded by bright minds; Duke places a lot of focus on engineering excellence and development.

    Cons

    The recent merger with Progress Energy was less than smooth, but the resulting company will be a valuable blend of best practices and strong leadership.

    Pros

    Plenty to do, Everyone is helpful and wants to teach you everything there is to know about how a power company works.

    Cons

    You will do the same exactly thing being a project engineer for a very long time. Fairly difficult to grow in the company unless you are good at politics
