I worked at Duke University as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

    -fun work--working with kids
    -some cool locations
-great job for between/just after college--working with smart, likeminded individuals
-salary is not bad for being a camp counselor

    Cons

-time consuming--as is everything with working with kids, you should be enthusiastic and a good role model at all times
-most work is during the weekends (but you get a 'day off'' Monday-Thursday)--if you are a residential counselor

I have been working at Duke University as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

Excellent research opportunities which make the job a delight to do. The people are mazing to work with and there is a healthy collaborative atmosphere.

    Cons

The fact that it is a private research university means that sometimes work is stalled because of lack of funds. While I never experienced this being an intern, sometimes this affects job stability.
