Sad story of a great brand that is cashed out by current senior management and shareholders

Pros

Colleagues are nice and helpfull Good work life/balance Good relationships with big international customers Intrinsically an interesting secor. People with long tenure and deep experience

Cons

The ONLY thing that matters is pulling out as much cash as possible. Of course, this is the main goal of every company, but D&B has streched the notion of what is meant by 'managing for the short run'. If your idea does not have a payback time of 2 quarters, it will never make it. Resources are completely outdated and malfunctioning. The most essential business expenses are refused. Lots of lipservice, but in essence an empty box. Thin air re-invented.

Advice to Management

If you are in the business of data, it is rather silly to call a project to integrate ancient databases a Strategic Investment. Especially if the "investement" is roll out over 3 years, and represents not even 4% of total generated revenue over that period. I know cardboard companies that invest a higher percentage of sales in R&D, and guess what, they dont call themself an innovative company. Maybe the fact that if you type in Dun & Bradstreet in google, one of the first suggestion is 'Dun & Bradstreet scam' should be a small warning sign that someting must be dysfunctional in your organization. The fact that we hit a scandal in China recently, is merely the effect of giving people ultra short incentive schemes to get as much sales in, no matter what. You get what you pay for. Sad story.

D&B sells itself as cutting edge, but they are 20 behind.

    Pros

fun job good pay enough recognition good atmosphere good work life balance

    Cons

No strategy know clew on how to cath up to the 21st century a lot of politics

    Advice to Management

No choice but to leverage Data in combination with software for the future. (strategy is not clear) However D&B is really bad at developing products (software), this is due to the wrong people in the wrong place, not lack of knowledge or experience in the company.
