I worked at Dunbar Armored full-time for more than 3 years

Pros

Family owned business which has some perks to the job. Advancement is possible but you must put in the hours and wait for an opening. There is a high turnover rate which means positions open regularly.

Cons

In reference to employee issues, management will usually side with the manager and not the employee. Long hours and lower pay. Advancement is possible but there does seem to be inconsistencies or favoritism.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to focus more on employee happiness and less on keeping costs down.

Listen to the Employee's they know more about what is happening out on the streets than you do sitting in a secured building.

I worked at Dunbar Armored full-time

    Pros

    • Extremely dedicated and concerned mid-level management
    • Eliminate mistakes, make budget and there should be job longevity
    • Ability to run your own branch, provided you perform well
    • You get to develop and build the team around you but salaries are basically set so you recruit based on your budget
o There can be some great, dedicated and genuine employees with tenure to work with
 It’s a shame that more cannot be done to honor them and pay them what they deserve

    Cons

    • Executive management is singularly focused on profit
o Accidents, injuries, and robberies should be prevented to reduce unnecessary expense, not necessarily for safety reasons first and foremost
 This attitude results in a lack of investment and passion regarding safety and security with only verbal enforcement and insignificant training to reduce incidents
 For a security company, there is very little security training for employees and management
    • There is not enough pay for hourly employees in every position so it is hard to attract and retain qualified talent
o For all that is asked of management, and they ask lot, salaries are the lowest in the industry and despite what you are told or how well you perform, you will likely get between 2.5 and 3% in annual increases
    • Be prepared for serious dedication to your work, including 24-hour availability for security reasons
    • There can be extreme micro-management, especially if you are under budget with an inability to communicate with executive management without detailing every part of the conversation to your direct report and above

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest in employees to improve the ineffective and the seemingly counterproductive work culture

    Doesn't Recommend
    Neutral Outlook
    Disapproves of CEO
