Pros

No one watching over you. You had a sense of freedom as there was no one watching over you all day. If you are hard working and motivated you had a good opportunity to increase your salary.

Cons

Very competetive. Very difficult business to make money. Working as an owner operator meant you were responsible for all your costs, fuel, insurance, maintenance etc. You don't only face competition from other companies but from co-workers as well. Your workdays are sometimes long as you were responsible for keeping all your paperwork, getting repairs done off work time. Make sure to pay your taxes on a regular basis as you are considered self employed and you could be hit with a big tax bill at the end of the year.
