E*TRADE Financial Senior Financial Services Associate in Charlotte, NC:   (Past Employee - 2008)

Pros

It's a good business model (mortgage issues aside) and has great products and services. The website and cash management services are user-friendly and generally problem-free. The pace of development and technology make it an exciting place to work.

Cons

Employees are treated as disposable. There is no focus on health or wellness, and employees who ask for modified schedules to care for their family are frequently denied. The HR department serves only to police the employees and deliver bad news.

The constantly revolving leadership team makes for frequent changes to priorities and goals.

There are different standards for every department, with the "less valuable" areas receiving very little in the way of perks or moral boosters.

Advice to Senior Management

Your employees are your best asset. Treat them with respect. Retain the successful leaders, and eliminate those who get caught up in the power struggle and inter-departmental politics.
