I worked at E*TRADE Financial full-time (more than an year)

Pros

Paid training to get licensed
Benefits are pretty good

Cons

Just a call center. Managers like to micro manage. No real room for growth just lateral movements. If you really want to move up here you would have to be in it for the long haul and spend five plus years to move up. The monotony of a call center can get to individuals and company doesn't

    Pros

Pay to receive your Series 7 & 63.
Employees generally get along well with each other.
Benefits are pretty good, especially vision.

    Cons

Management makes constant changes without notifying the employees that actually do the job or use the systems.
Growth potential is no longer as available as it used to be. Moves to other departments are all viewed as lateral so there is little pay increase. Promotions now only come when someone else leaves the company.
Most managers can't be trusted and seem to have their own interests at heart always.
Pay is low and employee morale is extremely low.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make a better effort to listen to employee suggestions and involve the people who actually use your systems in the decision making process for upgrades and improvements. Your employees make your company move. Find better ways to take care of them and make them feel appreciated because that is a main reason some of the brightest and best employees move on from this company so fast and morale remains so low. Contrary to belief, the customer is NOT always right and should have some sort of accountability for them as well. Many employees have been blamed for difficult customers who have no basis for their attitudes.

    Pros

Great opportunities to take on additional responsibilities and learn new functional areas. Prior to 2007 the firm was in many interesting markets outside of the US which provided dynamic roles in IT, Operations and Marketing.

    Cons

Work life balance is difficult, and employees are often unrewarded for working 60 - 80 hour work weeks when there are challenging situations. Several departments have significantly lower workload than some key areas.
