Pros

Fun company, younger staff, beautiful office, good/affordable health benefits & opportunity to travel. While I was there we had every other Friday off - huge plus. A great first job for someone right out of college & a great place to make new friends!

Cons

High expectations for little pay. Felt like just a number - not a lot of opportunity for growth. Salary wasn't high enough to make living in the Boston area attainable.

    Pros

Good pay in sales for top-performers, excellent benefits (medical/dental, 3/4 weeks vacation, annual free trips) professional development (in sales) recently implemented, friendly atmosphere, fun product to sell (who doesn't love to travel?)

    Cons

The leader here is, sadly, not a leader; obsessed with arbitrary numbers (except the numbers that count, customers booked), making broken promises of prizes based on bookings and not delivering incidentally destroying all credibility on the part of management, extremely poor communication from management on job expectations, impulsive decision making on the part of leaders and senior management, constant change of marketing message and sales strategy making a steady bonus and sales techniques nearly impossible. This used to be an amazing place to work that respected hard work, experience, encouraged creative input, and top sales performance. Now, unfortunately, not even a top sales person has any kind of job security because of the impulsive, inexperienced leadership here. It's sad indeed and I truly hope they are able to turn it around because the product, tour directors, and employees are incredible.

    Advice to Management

Someone should be watching the decisions of the current leader at Go Ahead Tours. Put in place a leader who is credible, honest, and makes decisions that are in the best interest of growing the company and profit.

    Pros

Wonderful students, great colleagues, safe environment, always new faces because of massive teacher turnover rate, lose weight , starvation wages.

    Cons

Cafeteria workers earn more than teachers. Feeling exploited, no benefits, medical, sick days, holidays.

    Advice to Management

EF is the largest private education company in the world and it got that way by charging students top-dollar and supplying bad food and lousy dorms. It is a business first and foremost masquerading behind slick marketing and intentionally deceptive websites. They do hire great teachers who stay for a few months but leave once they realize they can not earn a livable wage here. It is quite sad actually.
