    Pros

If you are a self-starter with a can-do attitude, then EMC is a great place to work. EMC provides an exceptional independent atmosphere with all of the support tools and personnel you need to succeed at the job. EMC pays better than any company I found in the industry, but you will definitely have to earn it. Some of the brightest folks I have met in the IT industry were at EMC. Education opportunities also abound at EMC...knowledge is highly prized there. The more you learn, the more you earn. The reason the company is so successful, is it is all about SALES...every position in the company is driven to serve the customer and the front-line sales teams. Everyone understands that without sales, there is no money for anything else...without customers, no money either. Git er done! :)

    Cons

EMC is a make-it-or-break-it environment. You have about 2 sales quarters to prove yourself or you will be gone. While the support infrastructure exists, you will have to navigate it with little help...figure it out quickly or you will fail at EMC. For example, you better know your job and your customer (and goals) very well and better be meeting them. EMC's sales "inspections" are legendary in the industry. You had better know the answers to the questions about your customer and you had better be making your quota...if you are, life is grand. If you are not...you had better turn it around or become persona non grata...

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There are some great people in the field who are not moving up (or over) as much as they would like. For example, I knew a number of the technical on-site support guys who wanted to move into pre-sales and would have done an outstanding job...but were being kept in their slot because it made management's job easier not to try and replace them. You have to continue to motivate your staff with opportunity or someone else will. All in all, though, I would give EMC Management a strong A- grade...some of the best leaders I have met in business.

    Pros

It's well known. It's a very strong company. EMC is very innovative. The co-workers were very friendly. Management put too much pressure on deadlines.

    Cons

Too much work crunched in a small amount of time. There were too many layoffs. The actual space inside is tightly compressed into cubicles.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more open from employees about creative ideas. Be more personal with the employees. Less meetings would also be appreciated by most.
