I have been working at EMC full-time

Pros

A company where if you do the minimum you will be there for ever they just dont let people go

Cons

Salaries, benefits, and especially quality of work life balance are way below their competitors. Most of the company is still run like a world war II widget factory.... They have a lot of politically correct words on their benefits page however if you ever reach out for help they make it extremely difficult on you and you soon find that there is no action or substance behind their words.... Just a bunch of very empty politically correct sounding words. Uvery phony and totally disrespectful of their people that roll up their sleeves and do the companies work. This is especially bad in their IMG division.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start taking care of the people that take care of you..... Your a tech company for crying out loud start using technology to make your people's life better..... When long time dedicated people people reach out for help.... Help them.... It's the human thing to do

    Pros

    Huge company with big future. Teamates and peers are good people and generally have your back. Oppurtunity to make a big difference and really show value with your customers. Huge presence in the IT industry.

    Cons

    In the past 2 years regional field directors have become more focused on "process support" than true customer service. Only those who comply with their directors whims and constantly changing initiatives are treated fairly. Several field level managers are focused on managing good long term workers out of EMC. If you work your way up from an entry level position to management, you will not be compensated fairly. More interested in bringing in outside candidates than promoting internal candidates. Workload is not at all distributed evenly, quality of life was dismal. Often worked 7 days a week between 70/80 hours.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    You are losing quality focus and the field is more concern with process than doing right for your customers. Several long term employees have left in the past 6 months and expect that trend to continue if something is not done to fix the inept field leadership in customer service.
