    Pros

Management knows what they are doing. Very promising long term strategy for IIG. Open communication and on a regular basis.
    Customers come first.
    Team spirit.
Focus on mobile, cloud and new user.
A lot of smart people around.

    Cons

Catching up since a few past Presidents took the company to the ground.
HR allows no negotiation during compensation review.

Former Employee - Senior Software Engineer in Hopkinton, MA

I worked at EMC full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    * Casual work environment in engineering.
    * Good flexibility with telecommuting and flexible hours. While you were expected to be at work for most of the 9-5 slot, you are okay with coming in and leaving slightly late. Also, if you were sick, needed to have a plumber come to your home, etc., the telecommuting options are nice as well.

    Cons

    * Organizational changes can sometimes be traumatic. Often the organization that's absorbed into another organization may have a difficult time meshing with those in the absorbing organization.
    * Bureaucracy is sometime way too slow. Sometimes it can take over a week for an engineer to get his/her computer that he/she requires to perform his/her job duties.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Speed up the process for getting new hires to get their required equipment. Also, better evaluation of incoming talent when groups are merged to make sure job duties don't change to the detriment of the incoming employees would be a good idea.
