    Pros

Great company amazing benefits good pay. You will work really hard here, tough to have good work life balance the higher up in the company you go. Culture is friendly to working remotely. Strong market position and very stable company. You can move up quickly here if you are aggressive smart and driven.

    Cons

Must be willing to navigate big company politics. Tough to turn off work here.

I have been working at EMC full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    (1) Decent salary although EMC is extremely cheap with pay raises once you're in.

    Cons

    (1) Must work weekends and evenings. (2) Management considers holidays and vacations optional pending their approval. (3) Incredible amount of managers/beancounters whose sole purpose is to hunt for "non-performers" when they themselves are the biggest liability. (4) Annual Layoff where upper management hands the platter out demanding heads from lower management with financial incentive for providing heads. These are the people blamed for all the bad decisions management has made through the year. This way upper management looks like they've again fixed the "problem" and of course they get to keep their jobs. (5) Annual Hiring where more sacrificial heads are brought into the slaughter house. (6) Backstabbing is the norm. Employees are encouraged and rewarded for throwing their peers under the bus to management. This happens multiple times every day.

    Advice to Management

Lay yourself off. Almost every manager at EMC seems like they use to be a sleezy used car saleman who figured out a way to make a lot more money by doing practically nothing. I would like to offer some advice but I truly feel EMC management is helpless.
