I have been working at EMC full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

A "Sense of Urgency" is a core cultural value. Get things done is a major driving force; very quarterly driven with explicit goals. Opportunities and challenges abound.

    Cons

Strategy and Architecture often take a back seat to short term business goals. The "fire-fighter hero" is often valued more than the quieter, well managed person; visibility and "savior" factor receive more R&R.

I have been working at EMC full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Good benefits, Hard working co-workers

    Cons

Management is completely disconnected from any technical knowledge and do not listen to the engineering staff. They are far more interested in implementing the next feel good program and preaching how you need to be global. The ideals in Apex are completely contrary to the rest of the company. Everything from work schedules and payout of goals is disparate. The facility is a manufacturing plant and treats the employees extremely bad. You will always work year end holidays, as the only days that are given are Christmas and New Years Day. This includes weekends...you will be working them. There are no upward career opportunities. All jobs are essentially dead-end if you want to stay at the Apex location.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Modernize the Apex management philosophies. The methods being used are outdated and the treatment of the employees is akin to a contract manufacturer
