I have been working at EMC full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Despite being a huge company, it still has some of the good things about smaller ones. Closer management doesn't get in the way of the tech guys, and also there is some freedom regarding shifts, occasionally working outside the office, etc. although this may depend a lot on location and immediate manager you report to.

So far the company has been meeting and exceeding investor and internal profit forecasts, so bonuses are being paid to 100% and it seems to be something to last for some quarters yet.

    Cons

Being a huge, listed company. it has the usual excess of red tape, duplicities, unnecessary meetings, too a deep hierarchical structure and the usual dose of divide between those closer to the field and those in the higher managerial positions. Not too impacting on a day to day basis, though.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Higher management may be too confident into current company profitability , but that rests on the right decisions being made years ago. If the decisions being made now at not right, we may only see the outcome some years from now, when there is little chance to change track. Input from the field and general staff may not be taken into account enough for the perfect options to be considered.
