Pros

Constant "sense of urgency" Overarching focus on mission Sr leadership laser like focus on growth, organically and via acquisitions Brilliant colleagues who are achievement-oriented

Cons

90 day quarterly focus can "burn people out" Work / Life balance needs more prioritization Sales culture mentality handicaps "non-sales" career growth/advancement (or at least that is the perception)

Advice to Management

Prioritize efforts to enhance career growth / opportunities in other non-sales but Customer facing organizations (ex. services)

    Pros

Not many good reasons to work there; they still allow remote workers and for some people to work from home. Didn't have to relocate to take this job.

    Cons

Lack of diversity. Barely no women in exec roles, and certainly no people of color. Some chief leaders don't have degrees and they are very old school- don't use smart phone, etc. This all reflects in their behavior. They say they can't find qualified women to promote. People are extremely rude. Entry level people have aggressive tone, say things like "take it up with the boss". Very disrespectful of seniority and experience. Foul language is often used in the workplace. Doesn't really seem like a high tech company. It's like working in an old fashioned steel plant.

    Advice to Management

A diverse workforce will add some innovation and balance of approach. It will bring EMC into the modern era where people act professionally, they don't curse or tell sexist jokes in the workplace. It is because all your senior leaders look and act the same, that they find this behavior acceptable. It is easy to see that EMC started >30 years ago as a furniture company. They are not high tech!

    Pros

Good direction for the company and good leadership. Very good benefits package and work life balance. Flexible hours and ability to work from home if needed.

    Cons

Many management positions have been held by the same groups of people and the compnay just moves around job roles every couple of years.

    Advice to Management

Continue the path and focus but be aware that many organizations do not get the support they need for day to day activities. Hiring process takes way too long even for moving to new oppotunities within the company.
