Pros

The pay can be pretty good. Plenty of opportunities for training and self-development. There are usually a lot of team events.

Cons

It's pretty much an all-white male company. The culture comes from a "good-old-boy" Boston mindset that has not gone away. There are a lot of layoffs that take place quietly so there is not a lot of stability

Advice to Management

Add some diversity, especially to the field organization.

    Pros

I worked for EMC for just under 10 years and if you're a type A personality who takes initiative, the opportunities are virtually endless. You work with really smart people, all employees are respected and asked for feedback/new ideas, and competitive pay and benefits - often times people will look at the salary only, but EMC offers a lot of very robust benefits offerings that really round out a great package for employees.

    Cons

While every company has it, politics is alive and well at EMC. Promotions and new job opportunities go to those who ask for them and seek them out. You certainly won't be just given a promotion or cool project just by being a hard worker.

    Advice to Management

Face time is still critical at EMC - most high tech orgs these days have evolved past that and I would encourage EMC to try to do the same.
