I have been working at EMD Millipore full-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

Lot of opportunities, you can go to differernt departments, and learn a lot for different technologies
which will help you to move forward

Cons

You have to push yourself, in short you have to sell yourself, and make headway for yourself. Lot of hierarchy.
Laid back attitude, work is not properly compensated

Great to work at in the right dept.

I have been working at EMD Millipore full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Benefits, health and dental, vacation, pto, 401K, versatility of employees. Bbq's and such get togethers.

    Cons

Some people don't work that hard and waste company time, but that's pretty much at any company. I work at a certain position where I do higher up positions work. I get paid at my position salary. I should get paid the same as the higher positions pay for doing that type of work. But Merck doesn't create positions in my dept. I think it's a budget thing. The only way for me to move up is if someone higher than me leaves and I apply for that position and hopefully get that job. I should get the job since I'm already doing the work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Create positions. Stop looking at just numbers at the end of the day and look in depth at the workers doing the job. After all we are all YOUR coworkers.
