I have been working at EPIQ Systems full-time for less than a year

Pros

Initially, I was a bit turned off by the environment, because the contractors were treated differently than the FTE. I was offered a position then it was rescinded for political reasons. But hard work and skill is recognized. A completely different department hired me on as a FTE. I was also a bit intimidated because there is a VERY high calibre of talent at this place.....I'll never make it.... My team, and those outside my team have been nothing but supportive.Being from the larger corporate environment...I had my gaurds up, and still do, but honestly it's almost too perfect. It's hard work, and a lot is expected...But this is a Work hard, play hard environment. VERY open to input, and very supportive.
I will say this..If you are afraid of hard work, and making independent decisions and need you hand held..this place is not for you. I have only met one unfriendly person in this whole international company!!!! Go figure!!!

Cons

Treat the contractors less like transient resources.....

Advice to ManagementAdvice

It's a growing company...With growing pains....I love it... Keep doing what you're doing!!!! You're doing it well!!!

I have been working at EPIQ Systems full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    - Financially stable
    - Competitive compensation
    - Above average paid vacation
    - Willingness to invest in superior technology
    - Extremely talented and experienced workforce
    - Paid training and certification
    - Above average on-the-job learning opportunities
    - Free soda, coffee, and tea
    - Modern facilities
    - Client satisfaction and perception are highest priorities

    Cons

    - Senior IT leadership lacks relevant leadership experience outside of current roles
    - IT workforce is grossly inefficient due to reactive leadership mentalities and lack of standardized processes and procedures
    - Excessive multitasking and context switching has left many initiatives and projects in a perpetually incomplete or even abandoned state
    - Lack of senior IT leadership competence significantly impairs ability to effectively execute
    - Mid-level IT leadership are not delegated sufficient authority or empowered to be effective
    - IT Project management exists only in title and job description, actual duties would more accurately be described as administrative assistants or executive secretaries
    - IT Project managers are not given the authority required to be effective
    - Nonexistent planning or strategy regularly leads to 14+ hour work days, seven day work weeks, and missed vacations
    - Complete disregard for family or work-life balance by IT leadership with expectation that Epiq be the sole priority
    - Overcrowded and inadequate work spaces with significant numbers of employees required to work from shared card and banquet tables, shared offices, and shared cubicles
    - Rather than increase available square footage to accommodate growth, existing cubicles are shrank to sizes that barely provide sufficient space for a chair to rotate
    - IT leadership refuses to implement a work from home initiative despite lack of work space availability
    - Insufficient parking has led to employees parking on busy and poorly lit streets
    - The number of hours that are actually worked quickly dilute the competitive salaries offered
    - Previously scheduled vacations are regularly canceled or significantly interrupted making it difficult to use accrued vacation
    - Unused vacation is not allowed to be carried over to the next year
    - IT leadership provides conflicting or blind objectives resulting in rampant turf wars and power struggles

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - Value and retain your talented workforce
    - Implement a work from home strategy for compatible IT positions
    - Define an IT strategy and follow it
    - Spend more time planning and executing
    - Spend less time reacting and rebuilding
    - Understand, respect, and value the benefits of a well balanced work-life ratio

I really enjoyed working for Epiq systems, they do have a high turnover rate due to the jobs being temporary.
