Pros

Erdas has a pool of talented people and working with them make life interesting every day. Also the management pays attention to your ideas and gives you chance to prove yourself.

Uncertainty due to frequent merge and acquisition is killing the spirits.

    I worked at ERDAS

    Pros

Interesting Geo Spatial technology if you understand the vast domain.

    Cons

Truly a sweatshop where workers are put under heavy stress ALL the time. Poorly implemented Ajile leading to micro-management. Management thinks of itself highly, but the employees feel like they are working for FoxConn! Management induced bad morale by trying to get employees jump thru BS hoops and openly telling employees they are all replaceble.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you want to be like Google or Apple, treat your emploees well. Its a 2 way street.

    Downhill Slope at ERDAS

I have been working at ERDAS

    Pros

    - Casual work environment: no dress code
    - Decent benefits: probably more PTO time than many other companies
    - Diverse work environment

    Cons

    - Very weak/inexperienced management team: get ready for politicking, blatant maneuvering, and lack of communication - a junior team focused on watching their backs rather than steering the ship...
    - Pseudo transition to agile, but still operates like a 90's software shop: major problems coordinating software releases, which leads to stressful deadlines/pressure.
    - Might just be the economy, but serious budget constraints: hard to get access to modern hardware.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - We know you report to Hexagon, but sometimes you need to take a stand on doing things right: for the company and employees. If you don't have integrity, please resign.
    - Lead by example.
