Pros

1. Skill sets of peers and leadership 2. Diversity of assignments 3. Opportunity for business travel 4. Committment to technical and soft skills training 5. Excellent reputation in the market 6. Opportunities to network internally and externally 7. Flexible work environment

Cons

1. Lack of say in what experiences you want to get, industries to serve, or clients to serve. 2. Performance management process is misaligned and assigns more weight to less important topics and seems to disregard other relevant experiences and feedback. 3. Client service personnel who started their careers appear to receive preferential treatment (i.e. opportunities) vs. experienced hires. 4. Counseling programs geared towards employee development appear to be a HR "check the box" function vs. value-added activity. 5. Regional vs. national focus (i.e. "keep money in the region" mentality) blocks employees from gaining meaningful client service experiences.

Advice to Management

Ensure all employees are receving relevant client service experiences that will foster their development, improve chances of promotion, and increase their overall level of satisfaction.

    Pros

E&Y provided a great environment for learning development in the field of accounting, which is something that came in useful when I was looking to leave.

    Cons

The hours that are required to be worked on a weekly basis were insane, especially during busy season. Management was also not always willing to grant time off even when it was deserved.

    Advice to Management

Management should look to even out hours more and also not look to promote the person that works the most hours, since that person is likely the least efficient person on the team.
