Pros

Friendly, professional, exciting environment that provides a great jumping off point for your career or a great place to work for years to come

Long hours can make the job difficult. Be patient and get to know your co-workers and this con won't be so difficult to get past.

  1. Overall decent company to work for, more opportunities for client serving than back-office support

    Pros

Excellent work life balance even with high expectations of work effort (this depends on the culture of the group you're in and management), challenging work environment, bright innovative colleagues, supportive learning and development culture, ability to grow your professional career significantly, supportive decent management (some bad apples here and there but 360 review tools help to weed these out), company has a day once or twice a year where they encourage you to volunteer for local charities (EY Connect Day), a lot of great philanthropic programs that EY supports

    Cons

There is a huge chasm between the experiences of client serving professionals and the back office professionals, there is a negative perception of back office groups (HR, IT, Finance, admins, marketing, comms, quality risk management, sales, etc) in some cases as "administrative personnel" who are not willing to work at hard as those on the partner track in the business groups (Advisory, Tax, Audit, Assurance, etc) It can be demotivating and demeaning to be treated in this unprofessional manner. Because global organization but not all groups function in a global manner, there are wildly different experiences working for EY depending on the group you're in. Limited promotional opportunity in back office groups, much more ability to move up the ranks in client serving roles.

    Advice to Management

Not sure if management can do anything beyond what they're already doing to address differences between client serving and back office. It seems to be the nature of a partnership organization, esp one as huge as EY.

    Pros

    - Great start to your career - Great benefits - Good way to network with your peers - Lots of exposure to different types of industries - Great mentoring program, great training - Pretty good starting salary for someone just out of college

    Cons

    - Let's be honest... you're going to work a lot of hours - Can be quite stressful - Not all the travel is glamorous

    Advice to Management

Be a good mentor to your staff and seniors. Try to give as much guidance as possible so they aren't spinning their wheels.
