Pros

Diverse and inclusive,
Great career opportunities,
Fantastic work/life balance,
Teaming culture that emphasizes how the job gets done rather than just getting the job done
Very sustainability conscious with bike racks in the midtown Manhattan building, emphasis on recycling (minimal use of plastic)

Cons

Physical space is a constraint especially in the New York office

Advice to Management

More diversity, in all respects, may be desirable at the Partnership level

    Pros

Nice people as a whole (especially at manager level and below). Opportunity to grow quickly if you want to pursue a career as an auditor. Defined career path. Good name. Okay pay.

    Cons

TONS of red tape to get in the way of you doing your job. Serious lack of communication between all levels of the company. They hire tons of new Information System and Computer Science majors into their recently developed TAP "rotational" progam, tell them they will be working on a variety of different IT consulting projects and stick nearly all of them in IT audit. Very limited to no opportunites to get on engagements in their strategic technology, performance improvement, predictive analytics, information security practices etc especially if you are not working in the NY office.

Extremely unrewarding work. It is more about how much and not how well you can do. While its not the worst out there, little work life balance especially in the busy season.

My advice to people looking to join EY: make sure you know that THIS IS AN ACCOUNTING FIRM. If you want to pursue a career as an auditor, this may very well be a good place for you. If you are looking for a consulting position, my advice would be to look elsewhere.

    Advice to Management

Be honest throughout the interview process and make sure prospective candidates know exactly what type of work they are getting into.
