I worked at EY full-time (less than a year)

Pros

Great people.
Great culture: in the office - always free coffee/tea; during a busy season - free fruits every day and pizza in the office after 8 p.m.
Career opportunities.
Development of the universal knowledge in accounting.
ACCA training.
The level of the challenge of the work fully depends on the manager of the team.

Cons

Unlimited working hours.
Low salary.
Different managers have different approach to teaching methods applied to interns.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

The first training week for interns was a little bit useless. May be it could be more useful if the 'shadowing' technique is applied.

Not an employee friendly place, at least in Technology Advisory

I worked at EY full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

great office location, good client exposure

    Cons

Still a long way to go before it matures in technology consulting. Currently, it looks like it is winning clients based largely on brand value and monopoly of Big 4 in risk, and regulation space. However, internally it lacks the skills, knowledge management, collaboration to undertake delivery of complex technology transformation successfully.

Progression process left a lot to be desired - last year it was manually done (i.e. open to human errors, manipulation and bias). Also, note that it is long drawn 6 months process, and takes a lot of networking, and socialising at the cost of productive client work.

In spite of growing in double digits, no bonus was given, and average salary hikes were below inflation.

I have worked in Deloitte as well and Deloitte is in a different league altogether

I have been working at EY

    Pros

fair salary, very good opportunity to learn about various clients, generally good co-workers, quick career advancement

    Cons

the hours were very brutal, for most of the year. there was definitely an "in" crowd - somewhat like high school.
