Current Employee - Assurance Staff in San Francisco, CA

I have been working at EY full-time (more than a year)

Pros

Note: Some of these only pertain to those who enjoy accounting and want to continue in it
-It's a very fun and outgoing culture of young people
-There are 3 weeks of vacation with unlimited sick days
-Access to high profile clients that will boost your resume
-Great opportunities in corporate accounting at clients for when you're ready to leave

Cons

-If you have a preference for a certain industry it is very hard to switch into that industry
-They throw you around and you do not have a say in what happens
-Compensation is TERRIBLE for hours worked and experience gained
-404 SOX testing is ridiculous and very boring
-Overall very uninteresting work. You will be bored and find little job satisfaction with your everyday activities.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please try to accommodate industry preferences for those who actually have a passion for an industry instead of throwing them at clients in need. There are plenty of kids who don't care what type of client they work on. Some do care and would appreciate the opportunity to gain experience.

    Pros

Decent work-life balance. Most of the partners are good and take care of the employees.

    Cons

Pay not great. Some consulting practices are not very progressive. Doesn't seem to be able to keep up with the other firms like Deloitte and PwC.
